PermaNet®

PermaNet® prevents vector-borne diseases such as malaria which claims more than 425,000 deaths annually1. To date, more than 1.5 billion people have benefitted from best-selling PermaNet® bed nets.

PermaNet® bed nets employ a superior technology which enables the slow release of the insecticide deltamethrin, and require no re-treatment or dipping. They are designed to meet the evolving challenges faced by vector control programmes, and both PermaNet® 2.0 and PermaNet® 3.0 are the most tested long-lasting insecticidal nets on the market.

PermaNet 2.0:

PermaNet® 2.0 is is the most purchased long-lasting insecticidal net in the world. It has been deployed in more than 200 countries on six continents by United Nations organizations, governments, non-government organizations, faith-based organizations, corporations and individuals. PermaNet® 2.0 has been fully evaluated by the World Health Organization Pesticide Evaluation Scheme, and was given a full recommendation for use in malaria prevention in 2009, following the interim recommendation awarded in 2004.

PermaNet 3.0:

PermaNet® 3.0 is the first long-lasting insecticide-synergist combination bed net. It’s the optimal choice for areas where mosquitoes have developed resistance to the insecticides used in standard bed nets.

Insecticide resistance has already been found in many countries. By 2012, 64 countries with ongoing malaria transmission reported resistance of malaria mosquitoes to at least one public health insecticide. This poses a major threat to vector control programs.

PermaNet® 3.0 has been developed to address the urgent need for tools with increased efficacy against insecticide resistant malaria vectors.  In October 2014, the World Health Organization's Vector Control Advisory Group published its annual report which included an evaluation of the supporting evidence for Vestegaard's product claim for PermaNet 3.0. The report noted that PermaNet 3.0 is a "first in class" and stated that "The manufacturers have been very careful to make a relatively modest claim that can be supported by the combined evidence from multiple studies in many areas of pyrethroid resistance."

LifeStraw®

LifeStraw® water filters convert contaminated water into clean, safe drinking water. The easy-to-use filters are a vital tool for some of the 780 million people who don’t have ready access to safe drinking water. This leaves them at risk for diarrheal disease, which kills more than 1.5 million people every year. Safe drinking water is especially important for vulnerable groups, such as children under five, pregnant women and people living with HIV. LifeStraw® water filters also prevent cryptosporidiosis, a major cause of diarrheal illness in people living with HIV and children under five.

LifeStraw® water filters comply with US Environmental Protection (EPA) 1987 Guide Standard and Protocol for Testing Microbiological Water Purifiers. Each product in the LifeStraw® portfolio is designed for a specific situation where safe water is needed but not readily available. LifeStraw offers specific products for international health and development as well as products sold to consumers for outdoor recreation, travel and daily hydration.
